About
Welcome to the Toyful Music Festival 2025, a one-day celebration dedicated to exploring music, sound, and play in unconventional ways! This festival is a unique convergence of deep listening, spontaneous creation, and collective performance, offering an expanded understanding of what music and soundmaking can be!
The Festival seeks to bring "play" back to the centre of musical creation and enjoyment, aiming at playing around with the concept of "playing" music. In this unique festival, composers, musicians and other sound artists from Cyprus and the world, join forces and create musical works and soundscapes, mixing classical musical instruments, children's and musical toys, everyday objects and environmental sounds, exploring the limits of their coexistence and the blending of sound colours.
The core of the festival embraces the concept of "toyful music", encouraging participants to transform everyday objects and environmental sounds into shared sonic experiences. We invite both seasoned artists and curious newcomers to shift their perception and engage in musical creation that balances intention with intuition, and structure with spontaneity
The festival programme includes concerts, workshops, sound mapping activities, sound walks and an explosive closing with world premieres of composed works and music influenced by the sounds of the region. The festival will host artists experimenting with sounds, toys and places, proposing an alternative way for listening to and experiencing music.
